I have had this photo in my inspiration folder forever- and I can't figure out where it is from. If anyone knows who took it or what magazine it was in or whatever, can you please tell me??
I have stared at this image over and over- trying to decide if I could function in a room like that. It looks so serene and lovely- but is it a real option for most people? I have four children. I'm a photographer. You know what that means? I have photos all over the place. I don't know if I could NOT hang photos on the wall. Also-- the couch is white. Beautiful for sure, but white. I couldn't maintain its beauty. (again, the four kids) Do any of you feel like this is a functional room? Is it more for singles or couples with no kids? Or am I just totally off base with this notion?

I think you maybe could do a white couch if it were a durable canvas slipcover that could be removed and bleached.
As for the photos, maybe you could pare it down to one or two photos on display at any given time, then change them every month or so? You could let the kids have a hand in choosing, too.
Maybe there's a 'you" version of this room that can accomodate a little more family activity. Plus, it's likely that this room was prepped for the photo shoot -- possibly by a team of people. It's probably not an accurate representation of what that room looks like on a regular day (magazines, empty coffee cups, squished up pillows, kicked off shoes, etc.).
It's so pretty, but I'm also skeptical about the longevity of a white couch! I agree with parallel-botany about the canvas slipcover as a solution.
I would never get a white couch - leave it to my dog to boot scoot on it! I'd rather not see it so I can pretend it didn't happen...gross, I know...
I think it's Benita's livingroom :) her blog is here: http://chezlarsson.typepad.com/myblog/
This is a very nordic look for sure, we like it pretty simple here:) We have a white couch too (although no children. But we do have a cat that has puked on it a couple of times...) and thanks to the slipcover cushions it's so easy to clean, just pop it in the washing machine! :)
This is def from Chez Larsson. She has amazing style, I'd recognize it anywhere. Her blog is full of beautiful, inspirational eye candy.
