When is the perfect time?

I read a post recently here. It made me think about how many times I personally have put off getting portraits taken. The photo above is about 3 years old. It isn't really that flattering for me. But look at my girls. They look happy. I look happy- but I remember what my thought was as my husband snapped the photo.

I thought, "Oh god I look awful. Hair up, no makeup, huge hoodie, bad angle."

In 20 years, will my girls look at this and think, wow mom looks so bad? Or will they try to remember that day? The day when we all played out in the yard and they crawled all over me?

I'm glad I have this photo. There are so few of my kids with me. I have very few photographs of me with my mother. It's unfortunate.

The photo below is 2 years old. The last image that has us all in it. I took it with a self timer. It's hilarious. But I love it anyway.



So, I suggest that you make an appointment to have your family portrait taken. It doesn't matter if it's with me or with another photographer. Even if it's at Portrait Innovations or Sears or whatever.

Your kids will thank you later. They love you. They think you are amazing and beautiful.

Etsy front page goodness...

This photo was on the front page of Etsy this morning. That was a cool thing to see when I first logged in. Etsy has been a satisfying venue for me for a few years now. I have made so many wonderful contacts and also had many lovely shopping sprees there:)! I am thankful that a place like Etsy exists to keep us crafty folk in touch with one another.

Missing Paris...

Just looking at a couple of images from my last trip to Paris. It's always fun to go back and find a few that had been forgotten.

It's an addiction, really.

Cameras, taking photos of cameras, polaroids, film... I can't stop myself. I am always looking for a new (old) camera online, at yard sales, thrift stores... I'm always figuring out how I can justify spending insane amounts of money on more polaroid film...this must be an addiction.

Beautiful Beach! (with flare)

This beach was so beautiful. I could have stayed there all day if I hadn't been afflicted with some craziness that left my legs so swollen I could barely walk!! What a vacation story I have! But, it is fairly depressing, so I'll just stick with sharing pretty photographs with you here.

The Impossible Is Impossible No More!

Today I nervously inserted my first pack of PX100 into my SX-70. I was handling it so delicately- my hands were almost shaking. To those of you who don't share my enthusiasm for Polaroid film and Polaroid photography in general, you may not understand. But I know that there are those of you who DO share my enthusiasm, and you know exactly how I felt. I chose my location- indoors- it was a bit breezy and cool outside this morning, and I was afraid the film wouldn't react well to the temperature. I Composed the shot. I held steady- and held my breath- and fired.
I immediately turned my photo over, and shielded it from the light. I waited 7 minutes. I nervously turned the photo over. There it was! Amazing silvery tones and little white anomalies. Perfect. I am impressed. I will buy more.

Fun Vintage Signs

On a recent mini road trip, I saw so many vintage signs! This little town in Wisconsin called Lake Geneva, it was like we were back in time. Sadly, I didn't have much time for taking photos, but I got a few good ones- I will post them after I get them scanned. Anyone take a little road trip recently? Get any good shots?
